Smart & Caring: A Donor’s Guide to Major Gifting

In this paperback book, Richard and Linda Livingston share the process they went through to move from being detached citizens of the community to deeply involved donors and volunteers. They also take a look at the technical and financial sides of becoming a donor.

The Stages of Giving
Independent Sector, 1999. $9.
This publication tells the story of a lifetime of giving in the words of philanthropist Kenneth N. Dayton. He and his wife, Judy, started out in 1945 giving $1,250, and their gifts to date total over $100 million. Dayton shares his nine-stage giving process to help others learn how to move from what he calls a minimal response to a creative and thoughtful maximum giving strategy.

These age-specific books has been carefully designed to teach children about philanthropy, with stories and lessons on charitable giving and community involvement, hands-on activities, materials for parents or guardians and reading lists.
